Charles Worthington Overnight Hair Healer Review

I really try to look after my hair, it’s slowly recovering from the hours of straightening, highlighting and styling that I put it through during my early teenage years. So when boots were recently running their 3 for 2 offer I knew that I had to take advantage and stock up on some treats for my hair.

I noticed this Charles Worthington Overnight Ultimate Hair Healer £14.99 here and was intrigued by it’s claim to double hair-strength overnight and reduce hair-breakage by up to 80%. So I had to pick it up.

It is an overnight treatment which I don’t always have time for in the week, most days I prefer to wash my hair during the evening, so in the morning I can simply shower, get ready then go. This means that I’ve been saving this treatment as my weekend treat or for if I have a few hours spare in the day to use it instead of overnight use.

To use I take a generous amount (usually 4-5 pumps) and rub it straight into my dry hair, it doesn’t need to even be clean but I find that it works better if your hair doesn’t have any product build up from the day such as hairspray, dry shampoo etc. The product is a thin slightly sticky gel which smells gorgeous, it works through the hair very quickly and slides in easily, I like to keep building mine up until I feel that my hair is covered. Then within a couple of minutes it works into the hair almost drying, meaning that you have no worry of ruining pillows or having to lay uncomfortable towels down first unlike other products. In the morning I simply rinse it out and then wash my hair with my normal shampoo and conditioner.

It leaves my hair feeling silky soft and smooth, frizz is completely reduced and best of all it doesn’t cause my hair to feel weighed down or greasy at the roots at all even though I apply the product from root to tip. I like to use this at least once a week, but usually aim for two uses, it’s also a large bottle (200ml) so I can imagine that It will last me a long time.

I’m definitely going to trying more products in this range. Has anybody else tried any of these Salon At Home products yet?

Budget Beauty- Lacura Facial Oil

20140319-165446.jpg

Whilst shopping in Aldi I love having a browse of their beauty section for great bargain products, I find them to be such high quality products and extremely cheap. So on a recent trip when I spotted this Lacura Face Treatment Oil- £3.99 for 30ml, I just knew that I had to pick it up. I had actually been on the hunt for a facial oil for a while and for the money I just couldn’t resist.

There were two different oils available- one for dry skin and one for sensitive, I decided on the sensitive version as although I have some dry areas on my face (mostly forehead and cheeks) my skin overall is combination and I didn’t want the oil to be too rich for my skin.
The sensitive oil contains:
• Baobab Oil and Natural Omega- To soothe the skin and lock in moisture
• Pomegranate Kernel Oil- This ingredient is an antioxidant and strengthens the skin’s own defences.
• Avocado Extract- Which helps strengthen and repair the skin.

To use I simply just cleanse and tone my skin and apply a small amount of this oil to my face and neck replacing a regular moisturiser. The consistency of this oil is perfect, it isn’t too runny or thick and it slides onto the skin easily and quickly absorbs in, leaving the skin immediately glowing and moisturised. It is also fragrance-free so there are no lingering smells or perfume which could irritate the skin.

I’ve been using this oil now for almost a month and I absolutely love it, it leaves my skin glowing immediately and upon waking my skin feels like silk and looks healthy and rested, the pores around my T-Zone appear smaller, my skin feels plumper too, so i can imagine it’s a good product to use if you have fine lines and wrinkles.

Overall I really would recommend this oil, Ive found it to be one of the best skincare products for me so far. Also as you only have to use a small amount for each application I can imagine it lasts for a very long time, meaning you’re absolutely getting more than your moneys worth from this product.

Has anybody else given this facial oil a go? Or even looking to try it out?

Left-Right Beautiful blue sky, My Puppy Toby, A tired Toby taking a drink, My Sister and Mum

Yesterday me and my sister had planned on heading to London and having a wander around Bricklane Market but when we awoke to brilliant sunshine and a beautiful day we decided to get outside in the fresh air and embrace doing something different. So I put on minimal makeup some comfy clothing and wellies and off we headed to a local National Trust Park called Hatfield Forest. We also took along our Mum and our puppy Toby along for a long walk.

Toby is an 11 month old Cavapoo- a mix breed of Miniature Poodle and Cavalier, I've been dying to introduce him on What Beth Loves and thought this would be the ideal opportunity. The long walk completely tired him out, we even found a deserted field and let Toby off of the lead for the first ever time, he had such a great time running around although it was very scary letting him off as he can be very naughty at times.

Meet Toby and Myself

It was so nice to get outside and enjoy time with my family- with no phones or interruptions, we also enjoyed a lovely little picnic that we purchased from Tesco’s beforehand and had the loveliest day and it cost us hardly anything. Also as I’m currently trying to get fitter I calculated that I walked just over 4 miles, and it didn’t feel like exercise at all. During the summer season you can hire boats and bikes so we’re already really looking forward to doing that and enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my Sunday.

Ps. I also spotted Jodie Marsh walking her dogs, I said hello but didn’t want to pester her for a photo especially as she was just having a day out- slightly regretting it now though.

Who else is getting very excited for summer?

Mini London Haul

If any of you follow me over on twitter (@whatbethloves) then you may already be aware that on Wednesday I went into London for a little shopping trip. I visited the Westfield Centre in Stratford (obviously- that place is like my second home) and thought that I would share what I bought with you.

Firstly I popped into Primark and purchased:

T-shirt Style Top £8.00
I love the pastel colouring of this top which is very girly, although it has been slightly toughened up a little with the addition of the black sleeves and back. I have actually already worn this and can tell it’s going to be one of my spring/summer favourites. It’s so light and easy to just throw on and wear with jeans or shorts.
20140314-134558.jpg

My next purchase is my favourite of the day, I am so in love with these wedges and was shocked that they were only £20.00 (can you believe it?) I feel that they look a lot more expensive and definatly not Primark! They’re limited edition and apsolutely gorgeous. 20140314-125912.jpg

I then visited Riverisland and fell in love with this statement necklace which was £12.00. Statement necklaces are very popular at the moment and I’ve been spotting some other bloggers post about theirs so I needed to pick this one up. I think that it can be worn for both daytime and evening looks, so I’ll be getting a lot of wear from this. 20140314-140328.jpg

20140314-140319.jpg

The next shop I visited was Topshop.
As soon as I walked in I spotted this satchel, which was actually included in my Spring Wishlist which I posted just last month (here). I had to buy it and it cost £28.00- although I had a £30.00 gift card so I’ll think of this one as a freebie! 20140314-134110.jpg

My last purchase of the day was from Zara It’s an oversized T-shirt dress which cost £29.99. It’s big and baggy but looks great with a belt around the waist, tights, boots and a leather jacket or blazer. 20140314-132312.jpg

Then on the way home I picked up these two books in Tesco’s which were 2 for £7.00, I have read Linwood Barclay books before they are great mystery/thrillers so I had to pick up he’s latest one- plus the plot sounds great. The Never List was recommended to me on twitter and I have heard it is a great thriller, I am really looking forward to reading both.
20140314-150431.jpg
It wasn’t a massive shopping trip as I feel that in this weather I find shopping hard. I don’t want wintery clothes, but at the same time I don’t want super summery clothes either. Has anybody else been picking up bits for their Spring/Summer wardrobe?

Argan Oil Foot Pack Review

20140312-212009.jpg

With Summer approaching it’s the time of the year to begin getting our feet ready for the flip flop and sandal season. On my mission to get my feet summer ready I recently stumbled across these Argan Oil Foot Packs which I picked up in my local poundland. My feet are definitely an area which I like to pamper and keep on top of, I love giving myself an at home pedicure or even treating myself with a professional salon treatment. Also as I cannot resist a bargain I decided to pick a couple of pairs up and give them a go.

These deep moisturising boots are enriched with Argan Oil and Shea Butter and claim to ‘penetrate deep into the skin to reduce callus build-up and help repair and soften cracked, split heels’.

To use simply wash and dry the feet, put the boots on and enjoy the cool tingly sensation for 15-20 minutes then remove the boots, wipe down the feet and you’re done.
I personally keep mine on for atleast half an hour to ensure maximum results.
20140312-212230.jpg
When putting on the boots it feels as if you’re putting your foot into a plastic bag containing a generous amount of oily liquid, it feels refreshing and cool on the feet immediately and after a little while becomes tingly, it also has a very pleasant minty smell.
During the application the liquid soaks into the feet and leaves them feeling so fresh and very soft.

I have used this product twice now and have found that the main disadvantage to me is that the feel of softness doesn’t last long, but with such a hectic busy lifestyle involving lots of walking I can’t really expect it to. Also for only £1 it’s something which I don’t mind buying and using regularly.

I definitely recommend this foot pack for a little cheap softening treat, has anybody else tried this foot pack or hoping to try it to get their feet summer ready?

My Powder Blue Wishlist

20140309-191029.jpg

1. Blouse- RiverIsland £30.00 here
2. Nail Varnish- ‘Bloo Blo’ Models Own £5.00 here
3. Blazer- Newlook £24.99 here
4. Satchel- RiverIsland £28.00 here
5. Skirt- Missguided £12.99 here
6. Handbag- H&M £ 34.99 here

It is safe to say that I am currently addicted to the colour Powder Blue, I love the pastel trend which is perfect for Spring/Summer and my favourite pastel shade is easily this blue.

Everything on this wishlist is something that I love and want, but obviously I’m going to have to narrow it down to ensure that I am not walking around dressed in one shade head to toe.

I am thinking that my must buys will be the nail varnish- so pretty and easy to wear. The missguided skirt- a must for £12.99 and the H&M bag which I am having the hardest time ever tracking down- it must be sold out everywhere and isn’t even on ebay. I am determined to get my hands on it though so if anybody has any information regarding it I would be so happy!

What trends is everybody else loving for Spring/Summer at the moment?

The Sacred Truth Facemask

20140307-151348.jpg

20140307-151455.jpg

After a long cold winter who else’s skin is feeling the effects of dehydration? The cold weather and central heating is a bad combination for our poor skin and mine has definatly been feeling the effects lately. I love a nice facemask and always make sure that I treat my skin to one at least once a week, so I recently decided to invest in a hydrating mask to restore the moisture back into my poor dehydrated skin.

I decided to pop into lush to have a browse of their masks as I had never tried one of theirs before but had heard some great reviews. I ended up choosing The Sacred Truth £5.95 here which contains Ginseng and ginkgo leaf to stimulate the skin, Papaya to strip away dead skin cells, Green tea and fresh wheatgrass which are full of antioxidants, and then honey, yoghurt and free range eggs which leave the skin soft and moisturised.

To use you simply apply the mask to your cleansed skin, leave for around 10-15 minutes letting it dry and then rinse with clean warm water and a face cloth. I love how they need to be stored in the fridge since it is a fresh face mask, that means when you apply it feels fresh and cool on your skin- but only has a shelf life of 3 weeks. The smell is a refreshing ‘green’ healthy, natural smell which lingers on the skin even after it has been rinsed off after use. I personally liked the smell but I know that It wouldn’t be to everybodys preference.

I noticed a difference in my skin after the first use,  it felt softer, more hydrated and was glowing. Now after the third use my skin is feeling so much better, it is brighter, more hydrated and very smooth and clear. I have definatly now been converted to using lush facemasks and I would recommend ‘The Sacred Truth’ to anybody with dry/dehydrated skin which is in need of a pick me up.

Plus an extra bonus is if you collect five clean, full-sized pots and take them back into a store to receive a free face mask- what a good incentive? Has anybody got any other Lush facemask recommendations?

A Day Out In London

On Monday I was taken to London by my boyfriend as a late Valentines Day treat- I know it’s a couple of weeks late but as he lives in Leeds we didn’t get to spend the actual day together last month.

The plan was to go to Camden market to have a look around the stalls and then go onto Covent Garden for some dinner and drinks but the weather unfortunately had other ideas and because it was heavily raining we decided to spend the day in Westfield centre, Stratford instead.

We started off by doing some shopping, I was on the hunt for a powder blue satchel but had no luck. My boyfriend then treated me to a lot of goodies in Lush, I went a little mental as I hadn’t visited Lush in years. How cute is the drawstring bag that he picked for it to be wrapped in too? We then went to the cinema to see Robocop, the boyfriends choice but I definatly didn’t mind as I really enjoyed it. We then ended the day in my favourite resturant TGI Fridays.

In the restaurant we chose the Jack Daniels Sesame Chicken Strips as our starter and shared them- they honestly were amazing. For my main I had my usual favourite which is the Chicken Quesadila but swapped the spicy rice it came with for chips- I just love TGI’s chips too much. Then for dessert I chose a cookies and cream sundae. The food in TGI Fridays is always amazing and the cocktail menu is just as great too, I love choosing and trying new cocktails each time I visit.

I had such a lovely day out and although the weather ruined our original plans, it turned out to be an amazing day and it was definatly worth the wait.

How amazing is the Westfield Centre? Does anybody want to see a Lush haul post and see what I ended up receiving?

Essie Twinkle-Belle Duo £12.99

I had been wanting Essie ‘Mint Candy Apple’ nail polish for a while, it looked the loveliest mint shade perfect for the spring season. So when I walked into Boots ready for a 3 for 2 shop and saw it in a duo with the ‘twinkle on top’ topcoat I knew that I had to buy it.
In the packaging they look the prettiest shades and really compliment eachother well, I am a huge fan of glitter if you hadn’t already gathered and although this isn’t glitter it’s a frosty topcoat with little hints of glitter in- perfect to add a little something to a plain varnish.

I find that all Essie polishes are really easy to apply, the brushes are perfectly shaped for the nail and cuticle to avoid making mistakes and the formula is quite long lasting, compared to others that I’ve applied.

So it sounds perfect? Well I actually wasn’t too impressed with this nail duo. I’m a fan of neat looking polished nails and I found that the topcoat made my nails look especially messy. Just my personal opinion but I really do prefer Mint Candy Apple on it’s own and probably won’t be wearing the Sparkle On Top topcoat with it again. Even after removing it and trying again multiple times I couldn’t get my nails looking polished and neat.

Did anybody else find that they didn’t like this topcoat?
Hope you all have a great week.

Recipe- The Best Brownies

20140301-144230.jpg

Slutty Brownies
I really just had to share this recipe with you all, the statement of these being the best brownies ever is pretty big- but is definatly true.
I love baking and this recipe is one of my all time favourites, plus it’s it’s very quick and very easy to bake. When baking I usually prefer baking from scratch and feel that packet mixes are cheats. Although I’ve discovered that for this recipe the Betty Crocker packet mixes give the most amazing gooey texture and intense chocolate flavour. Plus their instructions are very basic and easy to follow.

These brownies are called ‘Slutty Brownies’- I’m not too sure why? But they consist of three layers. The bottom layer is cookie dough, then a middle layer of Oreos and the top layer is chocolate fudge brownie. Sound delicious? Well believe me they are!

Simply all that you need is:
• Betty Crocker Cookie Dough Mixture
• Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mixture
• 1 Packet Of Oreos
• 1 Egg
• Some Oil
• Some Water

Step 1. Make up the cookie dough mixture and place it flat into a cake tin.

Step 2. Place the Oreos evenly on top of the Cookie Dough

Step 3. Following the instructions on the box make up the chocolate fudge brownie cake mixture

Step 4. Pour the Brownie mixture over the top of the cookie dough and Oreos

Step 5. Bake- I cooked mine for around 30 minutes but depending on ovens yours may slightly differ. (Betty Crocker recipe suggests 20-25 minutes).

These brownies are so easy to make so can be enjoyed by beginner and more advanced bakers. They are best served hot and with ice cream, a perfect delicious, sweet and gooey treat, if you’ve never tried slutty brownies i definatly suggest you give them a go.
